Why You’re So Tired (And What to Do About It)

Blog placeholder image 1

You’ve tried going to bed earlier. You’ve added the extra cup of coffee. And you still wake up feeling like you’re already behind. If that sounds familiar, mama, hear this first: you are not lazy, and you are not failing. You are tired in a way that sleep alone can’t fix.

Tired is not just a sleep problem

For many moms, exhaustion comes from several places at once: the mental load of remembering everything for everyone, the constant on-call state of caring for people who need you, skipped meals, very little movement, and almost no quiet. Over time your body stays in “go” mode, and your energy pays the price.

Three places to look first

  • Your nervous system. When stress never gets a chance to settle, your body doesn’t get the signal that it’s safe to rest. Small pauses throughout the day matter more than one big getaway.
  • Your fuel. Running on coffee and whatever is left on the kids’ plates leads to energy crashes. Steady meals with protein help steady you.
  • Your rest. Rest is more than sleep. It is quiet, margin, and permission to stop being needed for a few minutes.

Rest is not rebellion. It is wisdom.

A gentle reset you can start today

  1. Name it. Say out loud, “I am exhausted, and that is okay to admit.” Honesty is where every reset begins.
  2. Eat something with protein first. Before the coffee, if you can. It is a small change that helps your energy hold.
  3. Take a five-minute pause. Sit down, breathe slowly, and let your shoulders drop. No phone, no list.
  4. Take one thing off your plate. Ask for help, lower a standard, or say no to something this week.

Bring God into the rhythm

Jesus did not say, “Try harder.” In Matthew 11:28 he invites the weary and burdened to come to him and find rest. You were never meant to hustle for your healing. Let this week be about receiving, not just giving.

If your fatigue is constant or getting worse, please talk with your healthcare provider. Persistent exhaustion can have physical causes worth checking, and you deserve real answers.
